A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. ___________________ Shantz. - Sarah Shantz was born in Wilmot Twp., Ontario, June 3, 1853; died at her home in Breslau, Ont., Dec. 20, 1921; aged 68 y. 6 m. 17 d. On Feb. 28, 1875, she was united in marriage to Isaac C. Shantz. To this union were born eight children, four (Sarah, Herman, Viney, and Laura) preceding her in death and four (Edwin, Luanna, Mary and Edith), with her husband and ten grandchildren, are left to mourn her departure. Sister Shantz united with the Mennonite Church in her girlhood days and remained a consistent member until death claimed her. The last few weeks of her life were spent in intense suffering, but through it all her continual desire was to bear it faithfully and uncomplainingly until she could go home. The funeral services were held at the Breslau Mennonite Church on Dec. 23, 1921, and were conducted by Brethren Jonas Snider and U. K. Weber.
