- MCGREGOR, JOHN
Died While on a Visit to his Father
At Galt Hospital, at 8: 15 p. m. on Monday, April 10, 1897, of Deloraine, Manitoba, aged 35 years and 7 months. He came home to visit his father, Andrew McGregor, about Christmas, intending to return to Manitoba, where he had been resident for nine years, on March 19th. Four days before that date, he was taken ill and removed to the Galt Hospital. His first trouble was appendicitis and five weeks ago he underwent an operation. This was followed by liver complaint and at his death, he was suffering from pneumonia. He was born on the homestead on the township line between Waterloo and Puslinch and was brought up there. He was in the prime of life and his prospects were of the brightest, as he had a good farm and prosperity seemed to be with him. Those who knew him say he was a fine young man, of a quiet and unassuming disposition. He was unmarried but leaves his parents and three sisters, Mrs. John Leeds of River Road; Mrs. Cochrane and Mrs. Irvin of Galt. The funeral took place from his father's residence (Townline between Waterloo and Puslinch) on Thurs. , April 22, at 2 and proceeded to the Hespeler Cemetery. Service was conducted by Rev. King of Galt. Pallbearers: J. D. Ramsay, A. Marshall, G. Begerow, Mr. Leeds, Mr. Cochrane and Mr. Irwin.
