- SPURGEON, Eleanor Helen - Beloved wife of the late Edward (Ted) Spurgeon, passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Saturday, November 11, 2006 in her 74th year, surrounded by her family. Eleanor leaves behind her sons Howard (Sue), Gary, Bruce (Cathy) and her daughter Anne Clark (Mike). Eleanor was blessed with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three sisters, Donna Lacroix (Hugh), Debbie Angus (Tim) and Lori Langlois (Arliss). Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Vera (McCullough) Weisler; her sister Bernice Closs and her brothers Fred and Donald Weisler. Eleanor was a former employee of Hostess until she took early retirement. She was born and raised in Galt and lived here all her life. Mrs. Spurgeon rested at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, Cambridge where the family received friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p. m. Funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, November 13, 2006, at 1 p. m. , Canon David Bowyer officiating. Cremation followed. In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Medical Day Care would be appreciated by the family. Eleanor's family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses for their genuine care and compassion during her illness. "A beautiful soul is now at peace. "
