  John Merklinger - By Record Correspondent - Tavistock - John August Merklinger, a resident of Tavistock for the past 29 years, died Friday at Stratford General Hospital. He was 87, and had been a patient there for three months. He was born at Wellesley on May 24, 1872, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Merklinger. Prior to coming to Tavistock he lived at South Easthope Township and Waterloo. Mr. Merklinger was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church. Surviving are his wife the former Henrietta Henkel, six sons, Peter of Waterloo, Fred of Reed City, Mich., David of Woodstock, Samuel, Frank and George of Tavistock, a foster-son, Eugene Heuglin of Chatham, and four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Ida) Thaler of Painesville, Ohio, Miss Elizabeth at home, Mrs. Walter (Mabel) Meisner of East Zorra Township, and Mrs. Clarence (Frances) Neeb of Tavistock, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The body is at the James H. Francis Funeral Home, Tavistock, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 pm, Monday. Burial will be in South Easthope Cemetery. Pastor George Sim will officiate.
