  Obituary - New Hamburg Independent, December 7, 1956 Ephraim Shantz Passes At K-W Hospital Ephraim Shantz, well known local resident, passed away at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital last Saturday at the age of 69 years. Mr. Shantz had been confined to hospital for nearly two weeks before his passing. He was a son of the late Solomon Shantz and the former Maryanne Hostetler and was born in Wilmot township. Prior to his retirement some ten years ago he had farmed in Wilmot Township. He was a member of Zion Evangelical United Brethern Church, New Hamburg. Mr. Shantz was actively interested in local sports and was a member of the New Hamburg Turf Association as well as the New Hamburg Board of trade. Surviving are his wife, the former Edna Weber, whom he married in 1916; two sisters, Mrs. Titus (Priscilla) Kolb, Kitchener; and Mrs. Frank (Susan) Miller of Millersburg, Ohio. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from Zion Evangelical UB Church, with internment in Riverside cemetery. Rev. M. E. Reuber was in charge of the service. Pallbearers were Messrs. Jack Bingeman, Roy Habel, Gordon Shantz, Hugh Shantz, Robert Weber and Kenneth Weber.
