  • Notes
    • Death of William Tunney

The death took place at his residence, lot 3, conc. 14, Blenheim, on Saturday night of William Tunney, in his 78th year. The deceased, who had been ill for a year past, was born in Scotland and came to Canada with his parents at the age of nine years. The family settled on the farm where Mr. Tunney died and where he lived all his life except for about ten years spent in Ayr. He was therefore one of the early settlers in the township of Blenheim and was widely known and respected. A widow and a number of step-children survive. The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon to the Ayr cemetery, where the remains were laid side by side with those of his father and mother. The services were conducted by Rev. T. H. Ibbott, assisted by Revs. John Thomson and Geo. Bacchus. Among the relatives from a distance who attended the funeral of the late Wm. Tunney were Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Sinclair of Detroit, Mrs. Thos. Tunney and Messrs. Arch. and Robt. Tunney of Blythe, and Mr. Robt. Linton of Wroxeter. The pall bearers were Messrs. Jas. S. Black, J. W. Hunt, John G. Watson, John R. Folsetter, Stephen Marshall, John McNab.
