- Gerry passed away with his family by his side at Innisfree House in Kitchener on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 in his 80th year. Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley (nee Bricker). Predeceased by his parents Roy and Alma (nee Dotzert) Wildfang and sister Marjorie and her husband Gus Dahlberg of Calgary. As a youngster, Gerry was very adventurous. He had a passion for life and never stopped moving. His family will remember with love his sense of humour, quick wit and strong opinions. He owned and operated Triangle Insulation for 42 years until his retirement. He loved the outdoors and his cottage at Gillies Lake which he built with the help of family and friends and leaves behind 47 years of good times, laughter and many card games. Gerry had a love of music and played the french horn with the 48th Field Squadron Royal Canadian Engineers Trumpet Band and later the Guelph Royalaires. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 532 New Hamburg until his passing. Gerry was a very generous man devoting many years as a coach to womens softball and manager to the Waterloo Bantam AA boys travel hockey team. An avid sports buff, he was the number 1 supporter of his grandchildren's athletic pursuits, rarely missing a game of hockey, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, football \endash you name it he was there with Shirley by his side. The family wishes to express their gratitude and thanks to nurses Cindy and Laura, Dr. Lana Tan and the staff and volunteers at Innisfree House for their loving care of Gerry and support of the family through his illness. Gerry's family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo on Sunday, March 11, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 445 Anndale Road, Waterloo on Monday, March 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joanna Miller officiating. A reception will immediately follow at the church. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Zion Lutheran Church, Philipsburg or Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family and may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
