Notes |
- Robert E. MacRae - The death occurred suddenly in Toronto on Saturday of Robert Emond MacRae, of Ayr, in his 65th year. Deceased has been staying at the home of his sisters in the Queen City since the first of the year and appeared in his usual health on retiring Friday night. On Saturday morning it was found that he had passed away in his sleep. He suffered a slight stroke some three years ago. Mr. MacRae was born near Greenfield in 1870, the second eldest son of the late Peter and Helen MacRae and had resided in Ayr practically all of his life where he was employed for 30 years in the machine shop of the John Watson Mfg. Co. Of a quiet and retiring disposition, he was highly esteemed by many friends. He was a staunch Liberal in politics and was an adherent of the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by three sisters and one brother, Jessie, at home, and Belle, Margaret and Norman, Toronto. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon and was well attended. The services were conducted by Rev. Mr. Patterson of Preston, and the pallbearers were: William Leithead, W. J. Turnbull, James Mathison, O. W. Bean, Alex Matheson and Joseph Appleyard.
