Notes |
- Cut Off In His Prime - This week the community joins the family of Mr. Peter MacRae in mourning the death of his third son, William G., who was cut off in his prime at the earyl age of 37 years. Born at Green field in 1874, he spent 30 years of his life in and about Ayr and was respected and esteemed as a good citizen. Seven years ago he went to seek his fortune in the North west, settling at McLean, Sask. A year since he contacted pneumonia and was placed in the hospital at Indian Head, to which point his mother and sister Jessie hastened and succeeded in nursing him through a severe illness, but his vitality had been sapped and a gradual decline in health followed. At Christmas he returned to Ayr and was carefully nursed, but on Sunday evening the vital spark fled its tenement of clay. Besides his father and mother, the brothers and sisters who survive are - Robert E. and Jessie A. at home, and Norman J., Bella and Margaret in Toronto. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon, interment being made in the Ayr cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. C. I. Ellison. The pallbearers were Messrs. Thos. Turnbull, Hugh McCartney, Wm. Leithhead, Robert Anderson, Alex Matheson and D. Cutherbertson.
