    • Elizabeth McMillan Passes

      One of Ayr's most respected elderly residents, Miss Elizabeth Dickson McMillan, passed away at Willett Hospital, Paris, early Tuesday morning following a brief illness. Although in indifferent health for some time, her death came as a distinct shock to many friends and neighbors. Born in Kirkwall, she was a daughter of the late William and Agnes McMillian. The family moved to Listowel for a period of five years and then to Ayr some 70 years ago. Miss McMillan was a talented pianist and in earlier years taught piano to many music students in the community.

      A person of quiet and retiring nature, Miss McMillan was known as a kind neighbor and pleasant acquaintance. She was well-read and a keen observer of current events. In former years she was a frequent visitor to Ayr Public Library. Surviving are three sisters, Miss Mary McMillan, at home; Mrs. Herman R. Jacoby (Christina) and Mrs. (George M. Jacoby) (Anna), both of Saskatoon, Sask. Funeral service will be held at her late residence on Thursday at 2: 30 pm, with interment in Ayr Cemetery.
