  Mrs. Robert Gourlay Passes - The death occurred at the Paris Nursing and Convalescent Home on Friday, Nov. 10th, of Ellen Hall, widow of Robert Gourlay, after an illness of some considerable duration. For a period of four years, previous to being removed to Paris, Mrs. Gourlay had made her home with her nephew, James E. Dance, and Mrs. Dance. Mrs. Gourlay was born in South Dumfries Township, being a daughter of Walter Hall and Isabelle Elliott. The family removed to Ayr some 50 years ago and resided on Piper Street. Mrs. Gourlay was a member of Knox United Church. Of an unassuming and kindly disposition, she was highly esteemed by many old friends and acquaintances. Surviving is one brother, David J. Hall, Hamilton. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Gourlay, on November 23, 1927. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at 2.30 from the W. O. Ball Funeral Parlor to the Ayr Cemetery and was largely attended. The services were in charge of Rev. W. D. Goodger, and the pallbearers were: Harold Hall, Toronto; Thomas Gibson, Webster, N.Y.; Peter Gourlay, Norman Dance, Glenn Dance and Wallace Dance. Attending the funeral from out-of-town were Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Hall and daughter, Helen, of Hamilton; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gibson, Webster, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hall, Toronto, and Mr. and Mrs. William Elliott of Jarvis. The Ayr News Nov 16 1950 pg 1
