- Death of Mrs. J. C. Bell
Esteemed Ayr Resident Passes on Saturday in Her 81st Year
A highly-esteemed resident of the village passed to her reward on Saturday morning in the person of Margaret Currie, widow of the late John C. Bell, in her 81st year. Mrs. Bell was born on the 10th concession of Blenheim, being a daughter of the late John Currie and Agnes Pringle. She had lived in this community practically all of her lifetime, residing for the past eleven years at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. H. Lawrence. Mrs. Bell was a member of Knox United Church and in her younger years took an active interest in the Ladles' Aid Society. She had been in failing health for about one year and was the last remaining member of her family. Surviving are four sons and three daughters, viz.: John, of Galt; Roy, of Toronto; Ewart, of North Bay; James, of London; Mrs. A. W. Stahle, Kitchener; Mrs. Geo. H. Lawrence, Ayr, and Miss Mayme E. Bell, Toronto. One son, Robert, was killed in the Great War. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Monday afternoon, when many friends and relatives were in attendance to pay their last respects. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie, who read the favorite hymn of Mrs. Bell, "Lead Kindly Light." The pallbearers were as follows: John, Roy, Ewart and James Bell; Geo. H. Lawrence and A. W. Stahle.
