- The Late James E. Blackie
Died, in Ayr, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1920, at 1.30 p.m., James E. Blackie, aged 30 years and 5 months. The deceased had been ill about two weeks, death ensuring from pneumonia and complications. He was born in Ayr and was a moulder by trade. In his earlier days he was a member of the local hockey team and was accounted a first-class player. In fraternal matters he was an Oddfellow and in religion a Presbyterian. He leaves a widow (nee Miss Cress) and two sons (aged 4 and 6 years, respectively) to mourn the loss of a faithful husband and affectionate father. The funeral took place on Saturday from his late residence, Bruce Street, to the Ayr cemetery, many members of Dolman Lodge, I.O.O.F., attending in a body. Rev. J. Jl. Brown, pastor of Knox United Church, conducted the services. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Jas. C. Swan, D. Reid, R. McGrogan, R. Maeder, A. G. Brohman and George Edgar.
