  Funeral of Edward Holdaway - The funeral of the late Edward Holdaway, which took place on Friday afternoon, was largely attended by relatives and friends. The services were in charge of Rev. R. E. Railton, while the following acted as pallbearers: Messrs. Robt. Barnett, John Cochrane, Harold Plumstead, Morley Showers, James Lunn and Robert Morton. Deceased, whose death occurred on Wednesday morning of last week, had been ill about five weeks, a paralytic stroke being the immediate cause of his demise. He was born in Hampshire, England, and came to Ayr about forty-seven years ago, where he had resided ever since. Shortly after coming to Canada, he married Alice Buckborough of near Paris, who survives him, along with one son, Charles, and one daughter, Mrs. Murray Gillespie, both of Ayr. The deceased was employed on the C. P. R. Section and with the Railway Cement workers for a great many years and was always highly thought of by his fellow employees. He was an attendant of the Methodist Church and had attained the age of 80 years and 21 days. The Ayr News Dec 4 1924 pg 1
