      Passing of James E. Dance
      - Following an illness of six months, the death occurred at his home in Ayr on Tuesday of James E. Dance, in his 55th year. He was born in the township of Blenheim, being a son of the late James Dance and Janet Hall. As a young man Mr., Dance went to Western Canada, where he carried on his trade as a barber at Sovereign, Sask., and Barons, Alta. In 1929 he was united in marriage to Oliver Ruth Cunningham of Sovereign, Sask. The family removed back to Ontario in 1934, where they resided on the farm of Mr. Dance, on the 7th concession of Blenheim. In 1945 they removed to their present residence at Ayr. Here he had been manager at the turnip waxing plant of the Ayr Feed and Supply until April, when he was forced to give up his work on account of ill health. Mr. Dance was a devoted member of Knox United Church, where he served on the board of managers for several years. Of a quiet and unassuming disposition, he was highly esteemed by a host of friends and acquaintances for his many fine qualities of heart and head. - The Survivors - Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Glenn of Ayr, and two daughters, Faye and Ruth at home; also by his stepmother, Mrs. James Dance, Ayr. Also surviving are two grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by five brothers and four sisters, as follows: Wallace of Blenheim; Norman, Paris; John, Ayr; William and Robert, Brantford; Isobel (Mrs. Thomas Gibson), Webster, N.Y.; Marion, Ayr; Mae (Mrs. Max Miles), Galt, and Jean (Mrs. Richard Oliver), Toronto. Mr. Dance is resting at his late residence until Thursday noon. The Funeral - The funeral will take place from Knox United Church, Ayr, on Thursday, Nov. 24, at 2.30 p.m., with interments in Ayr Cemetery.

There passed away at her home, lot 2, con. 6, Blenheim on Friday morning, Sept. 16, a very estimable lady in the person of Mrs. James Dance, after a short illness of only about a week. - Mrs. Dance, whose maiden name was Janet Hall, was the eldest daughter of Walter and Isabelle Hall, Ayr, and was very highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends, who deeply sympathize with her sorely bereaved husband and family. The deceased, who was married in Blenheim in 1896 by the Rev. J. S. Hardie, the then pastor of Stanley-st. church, Ayr, was in her 37th year, and strangely enough the day of her death was the 14th anniversary of her wedding day, and the 13th anniversary of her eldest son's birthday. She is the third member of Mr. and Mrs. Hall's family that has entered into eternal rest within a period of slightly over two years - the others being Mrs. John R. Easton of Paris, and Mr. John D. Hall of Ayr. Mrs. Dance leaves a family of five - four boys and one girl. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon to Ayr cemetery, followed thence by a large concourse of friends and acquaintances. The services at the home and the grave were conducted by Rev. D. I. Ellison. The pallbearers were Messrs. James and William Scott, Charles Rafferty, Alex. Kennedy, Murdo McRae and Sheldon Stockton.
