    • Breslau Woman Fatally Burned

Albina Schwartz, wife of Mr. A. Schwartz, proprietor of the Breslau Hotel, died in the Kitchener and Waterloo Hospital early on Sunday morning as the result of severe burns received during an explosion at her home on Saturday morning.

Mrs. Schwartz, while preparing the breakfast on Saturday, poured coal oil on the fire in the wood stove in order to secure a better blaze. The oil blazed up, exploding the can in her hands. Mrs. Schwartz was at once enveloped in a mass of flames. Her small daughter, becoming alarmed, ran to her mother and was also severely burned.

Mr. Schwartz succeeded in extinguishing the fire, but was himself badly burned. An emergency call was sent to Kitchener for the ambulance and Mrs. Schwartz and the little daughter removed to the hospital, where every aid was given. The severity of the burns, coupled with the woman's physical condition, made it impossible to save her life and she passed away on Sunday morning. The little girl is still in the hospital.

The deceased was a native of Bohemia, having been born in that country in 1887. Her remains were interred in Mount Hope cemetery on Wednesday afternoon.
