Funeral director Harry Huehn dies Harry 0. Huehn of 65 Westmount Rd. N., Waterloo, dean of funeral directors in Kitchener-Waterloo, died suddenly of a heart attack, at his home Monday night. He was 61. Huehn had been with the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home in Kitchener, for more than 40 years. Hehad spent the day at work and died peacefully, while watching television. For many years, he was a director of the Waterloo County Children's Aid Society and in 1971 was its president. He also served on the provincial children's aid board and in 1975 was elected president of the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies. In addition, he was a former board member of St. Monica's House and a long-time member of the K-W Kiwanis Club of which he was president in 1964. For many years, Huehn was also a blood donor. After three years on dialysis, which required him to spend five hours, three times a week at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, he received a kidney transplant in February 1982, at Toronto Western Hospital. He spent 14 weeks in hospital after the transplant. In a 1982 interview, Huehn said the kidney had made him feel like a new person. The fragrance of cookies baking in the oven makes me feel nostalgic. I have always valued my friends, but today more than ever. They've been very supportive and so has my family, he said in 1982. Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Stroh; two sons, David of Don Mills, and Thomas of Markham and one daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Karyn) Robb of Kitchener. The funeral and committal services will be at the Ratz-Bechtel chapel on Thursday at 2 p.m.
