He was 61. Huehn had been with the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home in Kitchener, for more than 40 years. Hehad spent the day at work and died peacefully, while watching television. After three years on dialysis, which required him to spend five hours, three times a week at Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, he received a kidney transplant in February 1982, at Toronto Western Hospital. He spent 14 weeks in hospital after the transplant. In a 1982 interview, Huehn said the kidney had made him feel like a new person. The fragrance of cookies baking in the oven makes me feel nostalgic. I have always valued my friends, but today more than ever. They've been very supportive and so has my family, he said in 1982. Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Stroh; two sons, David of Don Mills, and Thomas of Markham and one daughter, Mrs. Stephen (Karyn) Robb of Kitchener.
