  Former Ayr Resident, Casey Herriot Passes A former Ayr and district resident, Casey Herriot died Monday at his residence, RR 1, Galt, in his 80th year. Born in Arkona, Ont., he farmed in the Reidsville area and on what is known as the Welsh farm, west of Ayr, before moving into the village for some time. The family left Ayr some 40 years ago. He was employed in Galt for some years as a machinist. He was a member of First United Church, Galt, and the Canadian Order of Foresters. Gardening was one of his favorite hobbies. Mr. Herriot is survived by his wife, the former Annie B. Williamson; two sons, David of RR 1, Branchton, and James of London; one daughter, Mrs. James (Iley) Fitzgerald of Galt, end a sister, Mrs. William (Fauntly) Cronin of Sheffield. Thirteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive. He was predeceased by a son, Leonard, in 1953. Funeral service was held on Wednesday at Little's Funeral Home, Galt, with interment in Mount View Cemetery. The Ayr News Oct 11 1962 pg 2
