Notes |
- Mrs. Albert Gentz
Mrs. Albert Gentz, (nee Clara Ritz), passed away at her home in Elmira on Wednesday forenoon, January 21st, following an illness of several months' duration.
The deceased was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Ritz and was born in New Hamburg on October 21st, 1875. She spent her girlhood days here and for several years was a member of the local newspaper staff conducted by her father. She married Albert Gentz 43 years ago and in 1905 moved to Heidelberg where her husband purchased the Heidelberg hotel. Three years later they bought the Central Hotel in Elmira where the deceased had resided since.
The late Mrs. Gentz was a devout Lutheran in religion and in her earlier days attended Trinity Lutheran Church here and was a member of the church choir. Since residing in Elmira she was a member of St. James' Lutheran Church and Ladies' Aid Society of that church. Her husband predeceased her in May, 1937.
She leaves in bereavement one son, Malta, in Elmira, besides three sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Louisa Kischel, Kitchener, Mrs. Ed. Huehn, Heidelberg, Mrs. Wm. Seyler, New Hamburg, Walter and Erwin Ritz, Galt, and Daniel and Lorne Ritz of New Hamburg.
The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon with service in St. James' Lutheran Church in Elmira, followed by interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Kitchener. Rev. L. H. Kalbfleisch will be in charge of the funeral services.
