- MRS. WILLIAM AUMAN
Many from Elmira and district and out-of-town paid final tribute on Tuesday afternoon to the late Mrs. William Auman, Centre street, following an operation. The largely attended funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m., from Dreisinger's Funeral Home and was In charge of Rev. W. M. B. Metcalfe of Wesley United Church of which Mrs. Auman was an active member for many years. Interment was made in the Elmira Cemetery.
The pallbearers were J. A. Rowland, O. W. Reichard, G. E. Dillon, Fred C. Ruppel, Fred C. Preston and Ed. Plant.
In ailing health for the past several months, Mrs. Auman underwent an emergency operation on Monday of last week at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener. It was thought for a time she would recover but she passed away suddenly at 5:12 p.m., Friday.
Member of a pioneer Peel township family, she was born at Parker on November 3, 1886, a daughter of the late Richard Johnston and Elizabeth Jane Rudd. On December 1, 1909, she was married to the late William Auman of Elmira, well-known district drover, who predeceased her on November 1, 1945. The couple moved to the family residence on Centre street where Mrs. Auman has resided for the past 42 years. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nelson (Wilma Amy of Waterloo and Mrs. George (Georgene) Ellis of Goderich, a niece, Mrs. Lee (Alma) Widmeyer of Oshawa, three brothers, Edwin of Missoula, Montana, Leslie of Fergus and Robert of Kelstern, Saskatchewan, and three grand-daughters. The many floral tributes were evidence of the high esteem In which the late Mrs. Auman was held and of the widespread affection she created in her lifetime of doing kindly deeds for all with whom she came in contact.
