- KAVELMAN, Alfred Martin Red\emdash Died, after a lengthy illness, yet unexpectedly, at the Grand River Hospital, K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, on Friday April 19, 2002 at the age of 85 years.
Red was born in Plattsville, Ontario.
Beloved husband of 60 years to Marjorie (nee Amos) of Kitchener; dear father of Bill & Barbara Kavelman of Ayr, Mary Lou Gutscher of Toronto, Barb & Rodger Carey of Moorefield, Larry & April Kavelman of Bolton, Bob & Sue Kavelman of Amhertsburg, Ontario, and Nancy (Garth) Laycock of Baden; loving grandfather to Jason, Denise, Ryan, Chris, Tami, and Meghan Kavelman, Brenda Cline, Dave (Karin) Gutscher, Darryl (Marie) Gutscher, Rob Berg, Ron Carey, Rhonda (Billl) DeVries, Jodi (Larry) Marchuk, Marci (Rodney) Anderson, Phill, and Michelle Laycock; great-grandfather of Vincent Kavelman, Jamie, and Stevie McKeeman, Larissa, Shannon, and Matthias Gutscher, Rachel Rivers, Tristynn and Toni Marchuk. He will be sadly missed by his brother, Eldon Kavelman of Kitchener.
Predeceased by his parents, William & Emma Kavelman; his grandson Adam Kavelman (2000) and his two sisters, Clara Gofton, and Edna Kavelman.
Red was the Owner Operator of Kitchener Brake & Steering and Red's Sunoco. Before retiring, he was a driver and mechanic for United Trails. A member of Bridgeport United Church and Beaverdale Golf Club. He also was a veteran of the Second World War and a very talented, self taught musician and avid golfer.
The Kavelman family will receive friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home,507 Frederick St. Kitchener (519-749-8467), Tuesday, April 23, 2002 from 9 a.m. till the time of the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., Rev. Karl Sievert officiating. Interment Elmira Union Cemetery.
