    • PORT ELGIN LADY, MRS. H. SCHWASS, DIES AT HER HOME

      PORT ELGIN, July 24-Mrs. Hetman Schwass, a highly -esteemed resident of Port Elgin for the past 52 years died at her home on Friday after an illness of three months.

      She was the former Lydia Ann Kesselring, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kesselring of Waterloo County, where she was born in 1874. Fifty three years ago she was married to Herman Schwass also of Waterloo County. The couple moved to Port Elgin a year after their marriage.

      Besides her husband, Mrs. Schwass is survived by four daughters and two sons: Gertie, Mrs. J. Edward of Port Elgin; Ida, Mrs. Alex Haner of Spring Bay Ont., Vera Schwass of London, Ont; Miss Alta of Owen Sound: Noah of West Summerland, B.C., and Wilfred of Port Elgin.

      Seven sisters and three brothers also survive. They are: Mrs. Mary Reinhart of Southampton; Mrs. Sparrow of Detroit; Mrs. Barbara, of Jansen, Sask.; Ida, Mrs. William Magwood of Norwood Grove, Man.; Annie, Mrs. Charles Jasper and Irene, Mrs. Russell Graham, both of Hartney, Man., Vera, Mrs. James Bailey of Sarnia; William Kesselring of Preston; Wilfred Kesselring; and Kesselring of Waterloo. There are six grandchildren.

      Mrs. Schwass was a member the United Missionary Church in Port Elgin and was a faithful and active member of the Women's Missionary Society.
