    • Mrs. W. R. Mathison Passes In 76th Year

      The death occurred at the Galt General Hospital on Saturday morning of Elizabeth Ritchie, wife of William Robert Mathison, Ayr, in her 78th year. She was born near Riverview, Ont., coming to this community 53 years ago, where she became one of the most highly respected residents of the village. She was a faithful adherent of Knox United Church. Besides her husband, Mrs. Mathison is survived by two daughters, Miss Mary, L. Mathison, at home, and Mrs. H. G. (Ellen) Thompson of Brantford; four brothers, Isaac and David in British Columbia, Samuel of Elora, James of Alliston; three sisters, Mrs. R. E. Hughes, Toronto; Mrs. J. Hunter, Alliston; Mrs. George Jordon in Saskatchewan, and two grandchildren.

      Funeral Largely Attended

      The funeral, which was largely attended, was held, from her late residence, Piper Street, on Monday afternoon, with service conducted by Rev. W. D. Goodger. The many beautiful floral tributes bore silent testimony to the esteem in which the late Mrs. Mathison was held by a wide circle of friends and neighbors. The pallbearers were Thomas Mathison and Alex Fraser, Galt; Lloyd and John Hughes, Toronto; William Keith, Shedden, and H. C. Schlichter, Ayr. Interment was made in Ayr Cemetery. Among those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. R. E. Hughes, Miss Maizie Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes and Lloyd Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Hollis, Toronto; Mrs. J. Hunter, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hunter, Hugh Hunter, Mrs. D. Hayden and James Ritchie, Harry Hagen, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cameron of Alliston; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Fraser and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mathison, Galt; Mr. and Mrs. William Keith, Shedden.
