- BUCK, J. Edgar - At his residence, on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999, suddenly, as the result of a heart attack, John Edgar Buck, aged 89 years.
Edgar was an outstanding business man, whose successful Big Four Hatchery was operated by Edgar and. his brother, Carl until their retirement, when it was sold. They also operated Big Four Farms, where they had a large Jersey Herd. He was President of Buck Brothers Hatcheries Ltd. Edgar was appreciated by others as he was elected to the Board of Directors and then President of the Ontario Hatchery Association, the Ontario Jersey Club and the Waterloo Cattle Breeding Association (predecessor of United. Breeder Inc.). He was a member of the New Dundee Baptist Church and the Retired Business and Professional Men's Club.
Husband of the former Gladys MacLean; father to Robert (Bob) and his wife Judy of Kitchener; brother-in-law to Janet Buck. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, John Buck and Elmina Lautenschlauger; his first wife, the former Mary Ainslie in 1983 and one son, Carl Douglas in infancy; one brother, Carl and two sisters, Greta Young and Gladys Scott.
Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. W., Kitchener, today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Ronald Matthews officiating.. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery.
Donations to St. Mary's Hospital. Foundation may be made as expressions of sympathy.
Reception to follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre.
