  J. D. McDonald Passes John Douglas McDonald died Thursday at South Waterloo Memorial Hospital. He was 70. Mr. McDonald was born at New Dundee but had resided the last 40 years in Ayr. He was employed as electrician at Shurly Dietrich Co., Galt, for 28 years. He was a member and elder of Knox United Church, Ayr, and served on the church session. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. John McDonald of New Dundee. He was also predeceased by a sister, Jessie. Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Rohr; one daughter, Mrs. Al (Barbara) Walker of Edinburgh, Scotland; two sons, Kenneth of Los Angeles, Calif. and Robert of Ayr; two brothers, Leslie of Ayr and David of New Dundee; and two grandchildren. The body rested at Coutts and Son Funeral Home, Galt, until Saturday. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, from Knox United Church, Ayr. Rev. D. Willis of Ayr officiated. Interment in Ayr Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gordon Marshall, Donald Dance, Robert Forde, William Fraser, Jack Deeton, and Carl Buck. Honourary pallbearers were Erb Clark, Anderson Marshall, Fred Mantle, James Patterson, George Gillespie and Alden Cochrane. The Ayr News Mar 4 1971 pg 2
