Notes |
- GUISSO, Phyllis (nee Schaller) March 10, 1918 - November 28, 2014 Phyllis died just as she wished - peacefully and comfortably, after a very short illness, and after a full and fruitful life. With her family at her bedside and surrounded by those she loved, she entered into grace fully confident of a warm and welcoming embrace. Her unwavering faith in God was a lifelong inspiration to all who knew her, and a comfort to those who remain behind. She was predeceased by Joe, her husband of 66 years, and by her son, Michael. She is survived by her children, Lazarus, Richard (Bernie), Jo-Ann (Lynda), John (Diane), and Greg (Kelly), and her grandchildren, Melany, Jody, Michael (Tomoko), Isaac, Rhys, Katee, Brittany, Nicole, and Angelina. She took great joy in her four great-grandsons, Kaito, Takato, Hiroto and Vander. Also sadly missed by her brother, George Schaller, who was always there for her, and with whom she shared a love of baseball and many a Sunday morning breakfast. Jean Bertoni was the most faithful of friends, and a treasured part of her life. She was also close to Father Phil Sherlock of St. Clement's Parish. They frequently laughed together, and he provided great comfort to Phyllis and her family on her final day. Phyllis was a gifted woman who excelled as a wife and mother, as an educator, as a musician, as a volunteer to several causes, and as an example to many. Generous of spirit, she gave much, never expecting a return. As a lifelong resident of Cambridge and for the last six years, of the Fairview Mennonite Home, she touched numerous lives and those who returned her many kindnesses in the last years of her life are too numerous to mention. She will be missed for a long, long time. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11: 00 a.m. at St Clement's Roman Catholic Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge. At Phyllis' request, no flowers, please. In her memory, please perform an act of kindness for someone close to you, or make a donation to a charity of your choice. Messages of condolence may be sent to www.tlittlefuneralhome.com
