- During WWII Fred was a stoker on the Kootenay with the Royal Canadian Navy. After the War he became a machinist for Joy Manufacturing in Galt, Ontario, Canada. In the early 1960s Fred moved his family to California where he worked as a master machinist for Waltco and later some small shops near his home in Orange County, California. Fred died in 1987 from complications from stomach cancer.
