- Passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener in his 81st year. Frank is survived by his loving wife Verna, children Bonita and Calvin, his step-children Charlene, Gwen, Glen, JoAnne and Barry, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he cherished and loved. Also survived by his sisters Edith, Irene, and Florence, sister-in-law Elaine, brothers-in-law Minard and Ronald, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Laura and Aaron Strong, his brother Maxwell, sister Mary, and son Guy. Also predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law Dora and Aurin Bronsdon, and his step-son Brian.
Frank was born in Newfoundland on the 17th day of October, 1930. He came to Canada in 1946 at the age of 16. He worked in Hespeler at Dominion Woollens until enlisting in the Canadian Army. He went to Korea from 1950 \endash 1953, became a corporal in 1953, and was discharged with honours in 1954. He worked in the mines in Northern Ontario, then moved to Kitchener in 1963, where he worked until retirement at Boehmers Ready-Mix. He enjoyed going to breakfast and meetings with his many Korean veteran friends. He was a kind-hearted person and enjoyed helping others.
At Frank's request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Saturday, April 23rd at 11 am. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to either St. Mary's Hospital or the Salvation Army.
Frank's family would like to thank Dr. Jackson and the 6th floor nurses at St. Mary's Hospital.
