Notes |
- HART, JANE (Nee Trainor)
One of the oldest pioneers of this district and one who has seen Guelph grow from a mere village to the present important business centre, on the morning of Thursday, September 19, 1907, who had attained the ripe old age of four score and four years. Relict of Michael Hart. She was born in Toronto and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Trainor, came to the wilds of Wellington County at a tender age. They settled on the farm through which the Grand Trunk Railway afterwards ran, at the point where Trainor's Cut now is, which cut received its name after the sturdy pioneer who cleared that section. It was on the Trainor Cut farm, that she spent her girlhood and entered womanhood until about fifty-eight years ago, when she married. They lived in Guelph Township, on the Brock Road and in Guelph. Mr. Hart died and a few years later, about 1890, Mrs. Hart moved to Guelph and made her home with her only surviving sister, Mrs. D. O'Connor. No children survive. Her son, Michael Hart Jr. met an untimely death in the River
Speed some months ago. The funeral took place on Saturday morning at 9 from the residence of her sister, Mrs. O'Connor, on North St. in Guelph to the Church of Our Lady. Services were conducted by Rev. Father Connelly. The pallbearers were her two sons(?), Daniel and James, Daniel Bulger, Edward Keenan, Thomas O'Connor and John Heffernan.
-Information from the death certificate: Died on September 17, 1907. Cause of death was old age.
