- Peter Shantz, "the eldest, was born August 7th, 1829. On October 4th, 1853, he was married to Elizabeth Martin. They own a beautiful farm in Woolwich Township, about four miles north-west of the town of Waterloo. They have no family."

Local News: Peter Shantz, one of the early pioneers of the township of Woolwich, died at his home on Wednesday, the 21st inst. Mr. Shantz was known as one of the most prosperous farmers of the township. He leaves a widow to mourn his loss.
