  Anderson Near PRESTON, Oct. 17. Well-known Preston resident for some 40 years, Anderson Near, died at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital, Saturday night, at the age of 73 years. He had been ailing for the past year, seriously ill for the past two months and confined to hospital for the past four weeks. Born in Garafraxa, Mr. Near came to Preston, about 40 years ago, residing here until February, this year when he made his home in Ayr with his niece, Mrs. Jack Ramway. A carpenter by trade he had been employed at the Eastern Steel Products, for seven years, until he retired in February this year, owing to illness. He was an adherent of the United Church. His wife, Caroline Reid, predeceased him about 35 years ago, and a daughter 17 years ago. Three sisters and three brothers also predeceased him. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. John Naffin, Galt and Mrs. Charles Gingrich and Mrs. E. H. Wildfong, Preston. The body is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, where the funeral will be held tomorrow, at 2: 30. Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Galt.
