- Shantz, -- Menno M., third son of Henry and Veronica (Martin) Shantz, was born in 1883; died at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital Nov. 2, 1954; aged 71 years. In Sept. 1907, he was married to Esther Wismer who preceded him in death in March, 1947. He is survived by 3 sons (John, Ervin, and Samuel, all farming near Ayr, Ont.), 4 daughters (Estelle of St. George, Ont.; Ella--Mrs. Burns of Galt, Ont.; Marion--Mrs. Linsman of Kitchener, Ont., and Doris--Mrs. Weicker of New Hamburg, Ont.), and 3 brothers (Levi and Noah of Braeside Home, Preston, Ont,. And Amos of Ayr, Ont.). Four children also preceded him (Menno, Peter, Willard, and Reta--Mrs. Horsfall). Services were held at the Roseville Mennonite Church, Roseville, Ont., where he was a member since youth. Moses S. Bowman and Moses Roth conducted the services. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery.

AYR - One of Ontario's best known poultry fanciers, breeders and showmen, Menno Shantz, 71, of RR 2, Ayr, died Monday at K-W Hospital. His specialty was waterfowl.
He was a life-long resident of North Dumfries township where he had farmed. In his earlier days he was noted purebred Jersey cattle breeder. He was also a specialist in other lines of farming.
Mr. Shantz was member of Roseville Mennonite Church. Funeral service will be conducted there tomorrow at 3 p.m., following a service at 2 p.m. at W. R. Coutts- funeral home in Galt. Interment will be in Roseville cemetery.
His wife, the former Esther Wismer, predeceased him in 1947. Survivors are three sons, John and Irvine of RR 2, Ayr and Samuel of RR 4, Bright; four daughters, Miss Stella Shantz of RR 2, Ayr, Mrs. Ronald (Marion) Linseman of Kitchener, Mrs. Howard (Doris) Weicker of Haysville and Mrs. Ella Burns of Galt; three brothers, Levi and Noah of Preston and Amos of RR 1, Ayr and 14 grandchildren..
