    • H. Raymond Schlichter - Herbert Raymond Schlichter of Kitchener passed away at K-W Hospital on Sunday, January 7th. He was in his 87th year. Mr. Schlichter was born on December 23, 1903 in Blenheim Township, Oxford County, the son of the late Herbert C. Schlichter and the late Eliza Jane Gammon. Ray spent most of his life working in the battery business for the Hart Battery and Exide Battery Company representing them as Canadian sales manager of their industrial divisions. He was the founder and president of Schlichter's Ltd. in Kitchener until his retirement. His enthusiasm for sports never faltered as he was an avid curler, skier, golfer, hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Mr. Schlichter was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Kitchener, the Westmount Golf & Country Club, the Twin City Masonic Lodge, the Guelph Chapter Lodge of Perfection and Rose Croix, a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Karnack Shriners Temple in Montreal. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Douglas Schlichter and his wife Ruth of Kitchener; Marilyn and her husband Dr. Donald B. McMillan of Kitchener. A special grandfather to Donna Carlstrom and her husband Gordon of New Hampshire, Paul Schlichter and his wife Debbie of Waterloo, Glenn Schlichter of California, Bob, John and George Thompson of Waterloo, Jeanne McMillan of Mississauga and Carole McMillan of Kitchener. Mr. Schlichter was a dear brother to Evan Schlichter and his wife Catherine of Maumee, Ohio and Harriet Archer of Kitchener. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his wife, Irene in 1987; his son, Lloyd in 1962 and his sisters Dorothy and Nellie. A memorial service was held Tuesday evening at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, Kitchener. Cremation.
