    • PAULS, John July 12, 1941 - July 22, 2016 With sadness and much love we say farewell to our beloved "Papa John", who passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Village at University Gates L.T.C. After a four year battle with dementia and Parkinson's, he could not stay with us any longer. He was the loving husband of Irene for 45 years. Dear father of Dan (Treena) Pauls, Lora Ryan (Dean Simon), Sara (Craig) McArthur, and Heidi (Jim) Wei. The grandchildren who always brought a smile to Opa - Leah and Adam Pauls, Gavin and Grayson McArthur, and Matias and Laina Wei - will miss him dearly. He was the loved son-in-law of Louise Rempel and John Rempel (predeceased, 2005). He is survived by a sister Maria, in Germany, and predeceased by a brother Peter, in Russia, a sister in infancy and his parents Helena and Peter Pauls. John was a long-time member of W-K United Mennonite Church in Waterloo. Friend are invited to share their memories with John's family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home , 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, July 26 , 2016 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate John's life will be held at W-K United Mennonite Church, 15 George St., Waterloo on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rudy Baergen officiating. Interment to take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo with the reception to follow in the church hall. Condolences to the family and memorial donations gratefully accepted for the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo Wellington or Hospice of Waterloo Region may be arranged through the funeral home at 519-745-8445 or www.erbgood.com. Deep gratitude is extended to the staff in Pollock Neighbourhood at University Gates for their tender, loving care of John for the past 10 months.
