Found Drowned in Pond
Standing upright in nine feet of water with a straw hat jammed well down on his head, the body of John Walton, aged 62 years, of Strasburg, was found by police in a trout pond near his home Friday night. The discovery was made by County Constable Morley Battler when he went in search of Walton. The officer intended to bring the man to a hospital here for treatment. Walton was an epileptic and had been despondent since his barn burned four months ago.
The deceased was a native of Yorkshire, England, and came to Canada 30 years ago. Previous to moving to Strasburg he resided for a number of years in Haysville and was well known in the district.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Dr. James Walton, of Middleton, N.Y., and Fred Walton, at home, and six daughters, Mrs. Colin Perry at home, Janie, of Preston, Mrs. Alfred Ueberschlag and Misses Annie, Mabel and Ruth Walton, of Kitchener.
