    • POLL, Elmer Ross Passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at The Chartwell Westmount, Kitchener. Elmer had resided in New Dundee and was born 91 years ago in Waterloo Township. He was the son of the late Milford and Florence (Wanner) Poll. Beloved husband of Shirley (Eckstein) Poll whom he married May 22, 1948. Dear father of Reginald and Cathy Poll, Grant and Heather Poll all of New Dundee and Heather and Phillip Ichikawa of Coquitlam, BC. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Adam (Kari), Sarah Hakkers (Corey), Joshua (Cassy) and Daniel (Amy) and great-granddaughter Allie Rose. Dear brother of Jean Weber, and brother-in-law of Ann Parker, Waldron and Doreen Eckstein, June Rieck and Marilyn Swartzentruber. Elmer was predeceased by his granddaughter Rebecca, brothers Harold and Betty Poll, Walter and Marjorie Poll, Ward Poll, sister Helen and Monty Zinger and brothers-in-law Alvin Weber, Don Moore, Roy Parker, Robert Rieck and Delford Swartzentruber. Elmer owned and operated Elmer R. Poll Transport Ltd. for many years and was a member of the New Dundee Board of Trade. He served in the Highland Light Infantry in England and Europe during WW II, returning home before his 21st birthday. Elmer enjoyed his winters in Florida where he made many friends and also spending time at the family cottage at Point Clark. Family and friends will be received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home , 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg tonight Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and again Wednesday from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE TIMES). The funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 2: 00 p.m. at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church, New Dundee with Pastor Graham Burkhart officiating. A private family interment to follow in Union Cemetery, New Dundee. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Evergreen Christian Ministries or the charity of one's choice.
