Notes - HABSCHIED, Katharina "Katie" Peacefully passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Barnswallow Place, Elmira, at the age of 92 years. Katie, of Elmira, was the beloved wife of the late Josef "Joe" Habschied (1996). Dear mother and mother-in-law of Anni and Ron Gowing, Gary and Rose, Joseph "Joe", all of Elmira, and Wayne Gowing of Edmonton, Alberta. Loving Oma of Duane and Heather Gowing, Gail Gowing, Ryan Gowing, Tara and Vince Carnovale, Michael and Miranda Habschied, and great Oma of Evan, Easton, Mitchell, Max, Simon, Elliott, Oscar, Heidi, and Hunter. Predeceased by her parents Georg and Elisabeth Stiegler, brother Heinrich Stiegler, daughter Katie Gowing, and granddaughter Lisa Gowing. She was a longtime, faithful member of the New Apostolic Church. Katie and Joe wintered for over 20 years in Sarasota, Florida. She was a resident at Barnswallow Place for over 15 years. Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home , 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. with visiting one hour prior. A reception will follow at the funeral home. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. www.dreisingerfuneralhome.com
