The deceased was born in Centreville but moved to Blair early in his life. Here he operated the hotel for more than thirty years. He also was a successful inventor inventing a crosscut and buck saw for the Shirley-Dietrich Company of Galt. The late Mr. Hertel was in his 72nd year. He was always an ardent fisherman and hunter. For thirty years he did not miss a hunting trip.
He is survived by his sorrowing wife, two sons, John F. Hertel of Waterloo and Isaac E. Hertel of Kitchener and one daughter, Mrs. Wm. Lang of Preston. One brother, Frank Hertel of Centreville and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Sauder, Alma. Mich., Mrs. August May, Windsor and Mrs. Gustav May, Didsbury, Alta., also survive.
The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from his late residence at Blair to the Preston R.C. Church with interment in the Mount Hope cemetery at Kitchener. A solemn requiem high mass will be held in the Preston R.C. church at 8 o'clock Monday morning.

_____________________
Mr. Hertel was born at Centreville 71 years ago, his family coming to that part of Canada from Saxony. He became a contractor, and erected barns and other buildings, becoming so well known contracts all the way from Waterloo County to ports of the Province of Quebec. Thirty years ago he retired from his business, came down to Blair, and purchased the Blair Hotel from James Ertel. This house he ran always as a first class hostelry and the hotel became one of the most popular in Waterloo county. Mr. Hertel had two recreations, hunting and fishing. He was at one time the president of the Blair Hunt Club, and for the past 32 years without a break had hunted in the far northland of the province, having in his day bagged three moose, many deer.
Isaac is buried with his wife, Mary and children, Isaac, Mabel and Viola, in Mount Hope Roman Catholic Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.
