  MARTIN, Melba (Mrs. Lorne) Peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital. Melba (Schwindt) Martin age 85 years of Elmira. Beloved wife and best friend of Lorne for over 60 years. Dear mother of Lois and LaMonte Jefferies of Elmira, Randy and Anne Martin of London. Loving grandma of Jason and Tarah Jefferies, Kathleen and Marianne Martin. Sister of Homer and Sylvia Schwindt of Elmira, Bruce and Kay Schwindt of Vancouver Island, Susan Holst of Waterloo, Eileen and Vern Gingrich of Elmira, and sister-in-law of Ruth Schwindt of Elmira, Marion Schwindt of Grand Prairie, Alberta. Melba and Lorne along with Arnold Schwindt owned and operated Central Cycle and Sports in Elmira since 1949. Pre- deceased by her parents George and Marion Schwindt, by her four brothers Arnold, Floyd, Ward and Howard, brother-in-law Walter Holst. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira, on Wednesday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church, Elmira, on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Jagger officiating followed by interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. In Melba's memory, donations to Trinity United Church Mission and Service Fund or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
