- Miss Jessie Wood
PRESTON, July 16 - Jessie Wood, 72, well-known resident of Kitchener Rd. district, Preston, died at her home last evening a fter an illness of several years.
Miss Wood was born in Glen Allan and came to Preston, as a child, residing here all her life. The deceased received her education at the Preston Public School and Tassie Hall, Galt. She was a graduate of Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Baltimore and did special hospital nursing duty every winter. A charter member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Preston, the late Miss Wood, was also a charter member of the Women's Missionary Society of the church, in which she also held a life membership.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. D. W. Elsley, of Hamilton; a brother, William, of La Verne, California; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. R. Wood, Preston. Five nieces and one nephew also survive.
The late Miss Wood is resting at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home until Wednesday, July 17. Funeral service will be held at the residence, on Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
