    • Mr. M. H. Hemmerich, the proprietor of the Elmira Laundry, was born in Woolwich Township. He learned the blacksmithing trade at Conestogo, engaged as journeyman at Tavistock, and came to Elmira in 1886. There he became proprietor of the blacksmith shop, at present owned by Messrs. Pfaff Bros. He conducted this 11 years, when he entered into the laundry business. The Elmira Laundry enjoys a good reputation and an extended patronage.

      MICHAEL HEMMERICH
      The effects of a cerebral hemorrhage suffered a week ago resulted in the death of Michael Hemmerich, 62, at his residence, 54 Stirling Ave. N., at noon Sunday. He had been in failing health for a year and a half. He was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hemmerich (nee Margareta Herbold), on Feb. 18, 1863, near Conestogo. A blacksmith by trade, he had lived retired since 1925, when he went to Kitchener from Elmira. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Kitchener.
      His wife, two sons, and a daughter predeceased him. Mrs. Hemmerich, formerly Phillipena Weber, whom he married on Nov. 1, 1887, in Elmira, died on Aug. 16, 1919. One son, Louis, died in infancy and the other, Carl, died in 1937. The elder daughter, Mrs. F.W. (Laura) Coop, died in 1941. Surviving are his younger daughter, Mrs. Herbert H. (Anita) Doerr of Kitchener and five grandchildren.
      Public funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 16th, from the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with interment in Union Cemetery, Elmira. Rev. Arthur Eissfeldt officiated.
