  WILLIAMS - A correspondent informs us that an Englishman named Williams committed suicide at the British Hotel in Galt on Sunday morning by hanging himself with his handkerchief from the foot of his bed. When found, he was in a sitting position on the floor. It is said that he was a pensioner having 1s, 10½d per diem. He was about 70 years of age. No reason is assigned for the rash act. The inquest had not been held when our correspondent's letter was mailed. Hamilton Spectator 5 May 1857
