Notes |
- Marjorie Letitia Oldfield
6 November, 1929 \endash 17 November, 2021
Marjorie Letitia Oldfield (nee MacLeod), passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday November 17th, a week and a half after her 92nd birthday.
Predeceased by her husband Lorne "Barney" Oldfield (2014). She leaves behind her four children, Thomas, John, Nancy and James. Predeceased by her brother Donald Macleod (2012) and survived by her brothers John R. MacLeod of London, Andrew MacLeod of Waterloo and her sister Molly Ridsdale of Preston. Adoring and doting grandmother to Stephanie, Megan, Cameron and Robert, and a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was raised in Preston by her parents Russell and Mary MacLeod, and always referred to herself as a Preston girl despite living most of her life in Galt. She was a devoted volunteer at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital for 52 years. Marj loved to socialize, and could transform any event into a special occasion. She belonged to many social clubs, was a keen Bridge player, and enjoyed her swimming group at the YMCA for many years. She loved the live arts and to travel. A woman before her time, her sense of adventure took her all across the globe long before it was common. Marj appreciated the little things, often letting people know they were special to her by delivering them their favourite treat.
Marjorie's sparkle and sense of humour will be deeply missed by all who knew her, including many lifelong friends at home and abroad. Special recognition to her eldest son Thomas who by his care enabled Marjorie to live out her days in her own home as was her fervent wish. A private celebration of Marj's life will take place at a later date. Please have a toast to Marj in her memory, and to a life full of fun and adventure lived with no regrets. In memory of Marjorie, donations may be made to Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.couttsfuneralhome.com for the Oldfield family.
