  • Notes
    • WILFORD, Robert Thomas December 30, 1932-October 18, 2017 It's with great sadness we announce the passing of Bob Wilford, a wonderful father, grandpa and 'a great guy'. He will be deeply missed by children Cathy (Ron) Smith, Joe Wilford and Jim Wilford. Predeceased by his son Rob Wilford. Also left grieving are his grandsons Pete and Tom Smith. He will be forever missed by Barbara Kennedy and her children Paul, Tim and Sandra. Bob was a founding member of the Halton Naval Veterans Association and loved being their club president for more that 14 years. In that time the Naval Veterans raised and donated over a million dollars to many local charities and especially Camp Maple Leaf for Children near Peterborough. During Bob's fifty-five plus years living in Burlington, he volunteered for several years with the Burlington Optimists and coached many of the minor hockey teams within the Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association. Bob loved running his small roofing company where he made many good friends and business associates. He passes the helm of Flat Roofing on to son Joe. Bob was very wise and the 'answer man' for all of his circle. If someone didn't know what to do, they asked Bob and he always had a solution. In his travels in Burlington he helped many people in difficult situations. Our family continues to hear stories of Bob's kindness over the years. Many thanks to Dr. Costi Karnis of Burlington for your mighty effort to keep Bob well. Bob thought of you as a good friend and we are so grateful for your kindness over and above the call of duty. As requested by Bob, there will be no funeral. Cremation has taken place with private interment later. On Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 1 to 4 p.m. The Halton Naval Veterans Association at 2444 Industrial St., Burlington will host an Open House in Bob's Honour. Please drop by to share some stories and laughs with Bob's friends, family and Navy Club members!
