  • Notes
    • Irene M. Taylor (Timms) 1922 - 2014 Irene Margaret Taylor passed from us September 12, 2014 and the world lost an amazing lady. Just ask the many lives she touched along life's road. From church groups in Toronto, Port Hope and Elmira to camping friends with the National Campers and Hikers Association and in these last few years the staff and friends at Conestoga Lodge in Kitchener. When people met Irene Taylor they knew they had met a real jewel of a lady. Her favourite colour was red and she shone like a ruby. She experienced life fully and passed the joy of her experiences to others. She loved to listen to people's stories and had a way of drawing them out and making people feel relaxed in her presence like they had known her for years. Mom loved to travel, she and dad enjoyed many camp outs with NCHA across Canada and the States. One of her special loves was live shows and musicals, Branson was a favourite destination. Keeping true to form, the last action I saw her make was an attempt to clap for a pianist entertaining the Forest Heights Long Term Care residents. Now I am sure she is clapping in thanks giving for her Savior Jesus Christ. My husband, Earl, step-daughter Kayann and I have had the privilege of looking after her these last 10 years, most outings were decided on based on whether mom would be able to go and Sunday afternoons were decreed "Mom time". She loved a parade and we were excited to take her to the Oktoberfest parade two years ago when the weather was so warm that day. Now these times with her are special memories and we miss her so much, as do the rest of her family and friends. Mom was born in Toronto, Ontario to George and Anne Timms (Parkins) on December 31, 1922. Her brother George Timms Jr. pre-deceased her several years ago. She enjoyed some visits with niece Julie Timms when she was able to travel. On February 7, 1948 she married Robert Cyril Taylor who passed on September 16, 2004. They had two children, Bev Gooden married to Earl Gooden and Wayne Taylor married to Roberta. Irene's grandchildren were always in her heart and thoughts, Sharon and May Lennox, Erik Taylor and Sarah Wilson (Taylor) and her husband Delroy. Her wonderful step-granddaughter Kayann Gooden cherished her right to the last hours of her life and grieves for her "Gammie". Mom's great-grandchildren are Kassandra and Kristine Taylor (she spoke of you girls often and never failed to show your pictures to friends) and Delroy, Quwon, Treyvon and Aaliyah Wilson (she would have loved to meet you and make a big great gramma fuss over you). I could fill a lot of pages with friends mom loved along the way, people who laughed with her and who she shared stories with quite often around a camp fire. Chris and Loreen Beatty shared many of those camping times with mom and dad and were loyal friends. Syd Lennox loved her as his own mother and shared many wonderful times with her and dad. Nancy Slofstra knew her as my mom and has been a wonderful help. Todd and Cindy Schultz corresponded with mom and she loved to share their letters with me as well as pictures of them and their children Bethany, Jonas and Owen. At Irene's request, cremation has taken place. Irene's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Chandler Place Condominiums (Party Room), 279 Chandler Dr., Kitchener, for a time to celebrate and share about Irene's life from 1-3 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Evangel Community Ministry - Kdigni, Nierigia School Building Project would be appreciated by the family and can be made by contacting the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 (cards available at the funeral home). The words of the hymn Blessed Assurance came to my mind two days before my mom passed to the care of her Savior: Blessed assurance Jesus is mineā€¦ Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Friend, we know you are with Him who loves you even more than we ever could. "All things are transient in that they shine brightly before they pass away"
