William S. Spooner Rites on Monday
Prominent in Windsor Masonic circles, William S. Spooner, 60. of 1039 Ouellette avenue, died last night in Hotel Dieu Hospital following a brief illness.
LONDON, ENG., NATIVE
Mr. Spooner was born at London. Eng., and moved to Canada and Galt, Ont., 45 years ago where he lived until moving to Windsor, where he had resided for the past 30 years. He was employed for the past 28 years as a tool and die maker and foreman at the Canadian Engineer and Tool Company.
A veteran of World War I, Mr. Spooner served overseas with the 16th Battery, R.C.A., from 1914 to 1919. He was wounded at Corcelette, France, in 1916, and was transferred to the 2nd Battery, R.C.A.
Active in many Masonic lodges, Mr. Spooner was Past Master of Garden Lodge, No. 641 and A. F. and A. M., a member the Ark Chapter No. 70; Knights Templar; Mocha Temple, A.M.O.S.: and the Moramos Chrine Club, Windsor.
He was also past monarch of Othmar Grotto, life member of the Almatta Grotto, Dearborn. Mich., and Aries Grotto, Detroit, and past patron of Mayflower Chapter, O.E.S., No. 196.
Mr. Spooner was a member of the Col. Wigle Branch, Canadian Legion, B.E.S.L., and a member of Windsor Court, Canadian Order of Foresters.
