- RABETHGE, Laverne Carl It is with sadness that Laverne's family announces his passing, peacefully at home surrounded by their love, on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the age of 85. Laverne is the beloved husband of Dora Rabethge (nee Chambers). Loving father of Vivian Roth (David), Lorrie Karpinski, Brad Rabethge (Karen) and Patricia Malina (David). Proud grandfather of Carrie, Daniel, Katie and Victoria Roth, Jodie and Dustin Karpinski, Derrick, Brandon, Owen and Amber Rabethge and Sarah and Susannah Malina. Laverne is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Hohl (late Stan) and Irene Cunningham (late Donald). He is fondly remembered by brothers-in-law LaVerne (June) Chambers, Bill (Hilde) Chambers and Neil (Marlene) Chambers and sister-in-law Frances (Wes) Alguire, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ella Rabethge, sisters Elma Heimpel (late Howard), Blanche Doering (late Roy), infant sister Verna Rabethge, and his son-in-law, Alex Karpinski. Friends will be received at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King St. West, Kitchener, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Ehlebracht officiating. Following a reception in the church fellowship hall, interment will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery, Kitchener. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association or to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
