- SARARUS, Miriam - Called to her Heavenly Home on Friday May 25, 2007 at The Westmount Nursing Home, Kitchener, in her 93rd year. A life-long resident of New Dundee she was born on June 7, 1913, a daughter of the late Ivan M. Hilborn and his wife, the former Myrtle Cassel. On November ll, 1969 she was married to Weston Sararus who predeceased her in 1992. She was the Village Correspondent for several area newspapers for 72 years. The longest member of the New Dundee United Brethren in Christ Church, she was a former organist and choir director for nearly 30 years and also served as a Sunday School teacher and financial secretary. She was a life member of the Women's Missionary Association of which she was a trustee for 24 years and secretary of the Ontario Branch for 22 years. She also served as secretary of the Ontario Conference Board of Christian Education for over 30 years. A life-long Christian Endeavourer, she was secretary of the Canadian Christian Endeavour Union for 14 years and secretary of the Programe Committee for the 16th World's C.E. convention held in Kitchener-Waterloo in 1970. Surviving are a stepdaughter Vaughn and her husband George Waddle of New Hamburg and three stepsons, Lynn and his wife Marilyn, Brian and his wife Carol of RR 1, New Dundee and Brad and his wife Glori of Elora, 14 grandchildren, 16 great- grandchildren and 3 great-great- grandchildren. Friends may call at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home , 621 King St. W., Kitchener, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at the New Dundee United Brethren in Christ Church at 2 p.m. with Reverend James Somerville officiating. Interment will be in the New Dundee United Cemetery. Memorial Donations to the Women's Missionary Fellowship of the New Dundee United Brethren Church, the Canadian Bible Society or St. Mary's Hospital would be appreciated, through the funeral home or on line at www.ratzbechtelfuneralhome.com "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ", 1 Cor. 15 : 57.
