Notes |
- MCNALLY, HARRY JAMES was born in Blair April 13, 1892, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac McNally. He was educated at local schools, and entered McGill University in architecture, but changed his mind and went into the medical course at the University of Toronto, in the class of 1918. In postgraduate studies he spent some time at the Toronto General Hospital, a hospital at Oak Park, Illinois, and St. John's General Hospital, Newfoundland. In addition he visited Vienna and Edinburgh.
He served in the Royal Canadian Medical Corps in the First War, and following his discharge began to practice in Waterloo, with his office at 188 King St.
Starting in 1920, he became one of Waterloo's prominent family physicians, with a consistently successful practice. In his early days he inherited a part of Dr. W. J. Fischer's practice. Latterly he worked with Drs. Leavine and Morrison, and was joined by Dr. W. Shantz, who eventually took over the practice.
He was a member of the usual professional and fraternal organizations, and served as a director of the Cancer Society. He was interested in painting, and played golf and tennis.
He died on June 19, 1962 following a heart attack. He was survived by his wife, one son and a daughter.
