- Menno Eby, "the first member of the family, was born February 19th, 1833. He is a book-keeper and resides on Eby Street, Berlin, Ontario. He was married to Elizabeth Sophia Maria Becker in September, 1856, and has a family of eight children, five of whom are still living. Their names are as follows: Eva Magdalena, married to George Erb, has a family of two daughters and resides in Berlin, Ontario, Sophia Maria, died in infancy, Louisa Matilda, resides in Berlin, Alexander, married to Nellie Watson, resides in Berlin, Ilda Isabella, Leander, died young, Menno, died February 20th, 1889, aged 20 years. 8 months, and 15 days (he had been employed in Rochester, New York, but came to Berlin, Ontario to die), and Nellie Grace."
